Vikalp Fellowship

A Journey of Study, Responsibility and Social Contribution

The Vikalp Fellowship for Young Couples is an immersive fellowship programme for young people who wish to understand life more deeply, strengthen their ability to live harmoniously within the family, and contribute meaningfully to villages and society.

The fellowship is rooted in the vision of Aanandi Kutumb Samriddh Gram and creates a structured journey of learning, practice and social engagement.

The Fellowship Approach

The Vikalp Fellowship is not designed as a conventional job.

It is an opportunity for individuals who wish to dedicate themselves to a process of self-study, family participation and social contribution, while developing the understanding and capabilities required to work meaningfully with communities.

The fellowship follows three interconnected areas of engagement:

01

Study

02

Education

03

Social Awareness

Through these, fellows gradually move from understanding themselves to participating with families, educational institutions, villages and wider society.

What Fellows Will Engage In

During the fellowship, participants will be involved in both learning and field-based activities.

Their work may include:

Studying and documenting the Aanandi Kutumb Samriddh Gram framework

Understanding and presenting Jeevan Vidya-Sah-Astitva

Preparing programme presentations, posters, videos and learning material

Writing research papers and documentation

Organising seminars and dialogue programmes

Conducting camps and workshops with school and college students

Engaging with Gram Panchayats and village communities

Working alongside government bodies, educational institutions and voluntary organisations

Supporting awareness and participation around holistic village development

The emphasis is not only on delivering programmes, but also on developing clarity, responsibility and the ability to work with people.

Fellowship Expectations

Commitment to Conduct

Fellows are expected to follow the discipline and guidelines of the programme and institution throughout the fellowship period.

Participants are expected to follow a vegetarian lifestyle and maintain appropriate personal conduct.

Before joining, fellows will also be required to provide relevant documentation including:

  • Medical fitness certification
  • Family consent
  • Reference letter
  • Other documents required by the institution

Responsibility & Documentation

Fellows will be expected to complete and submit the learning and documentation work assigned during the fellowship.

This may include:

  • CVMS-related study material
  • AKSG concept documentation
  • Posters and communication material
  • Videos
  • Jeevan Vidya-Sah-Astitva presentations
  • Programme presentations
  • Daily routine and learning records
  • Reports and written reflections

Fellowship Duration

The fellowship is designed as a 24-month engagement.

A high level of continuity and participation is expected during this period. Leave will normally be considered only in situations such as illness or genuine emergencies.

Initial Assessment Period

After accepting fellowship responsibilities, the first one month will serve as an assessment period.

During this period, both the fellow and the fellowship team will understand:

  • Individual capabilities
  • Commitment to the programme
  • Ability to work with people
  • Learning orientation
  • Suitability for the responsibilities ahead

At the end of this period, the fellow and the organisation will jointly discuss the next stage of the fellowship.

Financial Support

Fellows will receive financial support during the programme.

The fellowship amount will be deposited into a joint account with a family member, encouraging transparency and participation of the family in the fellow's journey.

A part of the fellowship support is also intended to help fellows gradually develop:

Savings for the future and resources for entrepreneurship or livelihood development.

The objective is to support fellows in moving towards greater financial self-reliance.

Who Should Apply?

The fellowship may be suitable for young people who:

  • Want to work closely with villages and communities
  • Are interested in education and social transformation
  • Are willing to engage seriously in study and self-reflection
  • Can commit themselves to a disciplined learning process
  • Are comfortable participating in field-based work
  • Want to build meaningful work rather than simply seek employment
  • Are interested in becoming financially self-reliant while contributing to society

Beyond the Fellowship

The larger purpose of the fellowship is not limited to completing a 24-month programme.

It is to enable a person to gradually develop the understanding and competence required to participate at different levels:

01

Self

02

Family

03

Society

04

Nation

05

World

Each fellow may take this journey as far as their understanding, capability and commitment allow.

The long-term aspiration is to nurture individuals who can live responsibly within their families and contribute towards harmonious, prosperous and self-reliant villages.

A Fellowship with a Larger Purpose

Vikalp Fellowship is envisioned as a space where study becomes practice, practice becomes capability, and capability becomes social contribution.

The fellowship support is therefore offered as a recognition and encouragement for committed participation, rather than as a conventional salary.

The journey begins with the individual, strengthens the family, and gradually extends towards the village and society.
